Real Purpose is a Leicestershire-based social enterprise established in late 2023, combining professional expertise in supported employment with lived experience of mental ill health.

Many of our team understand first-hand how mental health problems can affect everyday life, and the positive difference that work, volunteering and learning can make to confidence, wellbeing and recovery. This shared understanding inspired us to establish Real Purpose.

With nearly 30 years' combined experience in supported employment, we recognise that finding a job isn't always the right first step. People need the right support and time to improve their wellbeing before they feel ready for work. That's why we help people build confidence, develop skills and overcome barriers at their own pace.

Our support goes beyond job searching, from exploring opportunities and requesting reasonable adjustments to providing ongoing support once someone starts work. We combine specialist knowledge with empathy, recognising that everyone's circumstances and goals are different.

We established Real Purpose to address gaps in employment support across Leicestershire. Our first programme launched in 2024, and we've since developed further programmes helping people access paid work, volunteering and learning opportunities, improve their wellbeing and work towards their goals.
