Real Purpose is a social enterprise based in Leicestershire, founded on a combination of professional expertise in supported employment and lived experience of mental health problems.

Many of our team have experienced the impact that mental health problems can have on everyday life. We also know firsthand how meaningful employment, volunteering and learning opportunities can improve confidence, wellbeing and recovery. That shared understanding inspired us to establish Real Purpose in late 2023.

Together, we bring nearly 30 years of experience supporting people with mental health problems and other barriers to find, secure and sustain employment. Alongside personalised employment support, we provide practical guidance on topics such as disclosing a mental health condition to an employer and requesting reasonable adjustments, helping people feel informed and supported throughout their journey.

Our approach combines professional knowledge with genuine empathy. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build a fulfilling future through work, learning or volunteering, regardless of the challenges they have faced.

We began by addressing a gap in employment support across our home county. In 2024, we delivered the Leicestershire Employment and Skills Programme, supporting people experiencing or at risk of mental health problems into work. Since then, we have continued to grow our impact and now deliver programmes across Leicestershire, helping more people achieve their goals and realise their potential.
